Google SketchUp Plugin -- Roof Framing Geometry

Here's a link to the Google SketchUp Plugin -- Roof Framing Geometry.

RoofFraming.zip

Just unzip it in the Google SketchUp \Plugins directory.
The file structure should look something like this.

C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins\RoofFraming.rb
C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins\RoofFraming\plan_angle.rb

C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins\RoofFraming\Trapezoidal.rb

C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins\RoofFraming\Trapezoidal_Timber.rb

This drawing is a combination of the French Compagnon Roof Framing Kernel and Trapezoidal Timber plugins. I generated each of the French Compagnon Roof Framing Kernels separately. Then copied and pasted the French Compagnon Roof Framing Kernel into the Trapezoidal Timber plugin generated drawing. Timber Porn!!!

The Trapezoidal Ground Plan plugin is useful for checking the Horizontal Plane Rotation of the Skewed Rafter, as well as checking the Plane Tilt of the Skewed Rafter.

The plugins have an option to display the angle dimensions. I suggest setting it to "no", for most of the drawings it generates. The angle dimensions makes the drawing hard to see. Also, there are times when some of the rafters in the Trapezoidal Timber plugin will not be drawn. This happens when SketchUp decides that the points in the rafter face are not co-planar.

The plugins use rafter pitch, 8:12 etc...
To use an rafter angle, like 30°, take the tan of the angle then multiply it by 12.
Example:
tan 30°  = 0.57735 x 12 = 6.928203 rafter pitch
