Tréteaux Angles for RafterTools for iPhone

Tréteaux Angles for RafterTools+ app for iPhone Help file.

RafterTools+ app for iPhone Tréteaux Angles Usage.

The Tréteaux Angles can be used for Tréteaux , that translates to trestle sawhorse, but can be used for hip rafters rotated into the roof surface plane. Layover Valley Sleepers or California Valley Sleepers.

Keywords -- Definitions

  1. Devers De Pas -- DP Line... A line following the footprint of the tilted hip rafter or sawhorse leg in plan view.
  2. Trait carré -- TC Line... A perpendicular line. The TC line from the rotated hip rafter block in the hip rafter backing triangle locates the intersection of the DP line with the base leg of the hip rafter backing triangle.
  3. tréteau à devers... Trestles with tilt.
  4. Layover Valley Sleepers
  5. California Valley Sleepers
  6. Layover Boards
  7. Rotated Hip Rafters
  8. Footprint.. The bottom surface of the hip rafter traced in plan view.
  9. Folding Roof Surface.. Roof surface plane folded out and down.
  10. Draw Down Roof Surface... Roof surface plane folded down over the plan view plane, ground level plane.
  11. Jack Rafters
  12. Purlin Rafters
  13. Miter Lines... Lines on the sides of jack rafters or purlin rafters that develop the cut angle to fit against the sides of hip rafters.
  14. Back Bevel Lines... Lines on the top and bottom edges of  jack rafters or purlin rafters that are set in the roof surface plane and follow the hip rafter on the roof surface.
  15. Claw Lines.. Lines on the fold down or draw down roof surface that develop the miter lines and claw lines on the side of the jack rafters or purlin rafters. The claw lines are parallel to the hip rafter line on the roof surface. These lines can be used in the folding roof surface or the draw down roof surface method. These claw lines can also be used for herse.  Where the roof surface is not connected to the plan view plane.
  16. Skewed Purlin Rafters... Purlin rafters that are rotated into the roof surface plane, but skewed from the eave line at a specific rotation angle in plan view.
  17. La Herse is the term used to describe when you lay a plane or surface down on the ground level to work on. Typically these involve roof planes, but can also be employed when projecting a face/side of a piece of wood in space.  Once 'en herse' you can work on the piece and solve the angles. It's one of many ways of solving a drawing.(Patrick Moore)
